Alloy 309 is an austenitic stainless steel developed for use in high temperature corrosion resistance applications. Excellent resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion cracking. Higher chromium content imparts additional corrosion resistance.

It Is Tough And Ductile, And Can Be Readily Fabricated And Machined.

Type 309 is employed for parts requiring both corrosion and heat resistance and oxidation resistance up to 2000 °f. The 309 stainless steel has a higher corrosion resistance and strength compared to 304 stainless steel. Type 309 is used for parts that require corrosion, heat, and oxidation resistance up to 2000 degrees fahrenheit.

The Modulus Of Elasticity For Grade 309 Is 200 Gpa.

Type 309 has good sulfidation resistance but low resistance to carburization and should not be used in highly. Due to their high chromium and nickel content, alloys 309 and 309s are highly corrosion resistant, have outstanding resistance to oxidation, and excellent heat resistance while providing good strength at room and elevated temperatures. Alloy 309 is used in furnace parts, fire box sheets, high temperature containers and weld wire.

309 is an austenitic heat resistant alloy with oxidation resistance to 1900°f under constant temperature conditions. Higher chromium content imparts additional corrosion resistance. When frequent thermal cycling is involved, the alloy is resistant to about 1850°f.

Hot Working • Grade 309 Stainless Steel Is Hot Worked At 1177°C (2150°F) Followed By Reheating At 982°C (1800°F).

309 stainless steel property data includes chemistry, tradenames, specifications, mechanical. Alloy 309 has improved corrosion resistance and better creep strength than alloy 304. The high chromium and relatively low nickel content of 309 provide good resistance to high temperature sulfur bearing atmospheres.

Under Thermal Cycling Conditions This Grade Resists Oxidation Up To A Temperature Of Approximately 1850˚F.

Nickel is primarily used to achieve a specific microstructure. We supply a vast range in various forms of stainless, aluminium and mild steel. Frequent thermal cycling reduces oxidation resistance to approximately 1850°f (1010°c).
